You cut to the width and depth of the stair and cut the fit in side parts and down the side using mainly a special carpet glue right? The carpet edges probably need something done to them too?

1If the stairs are steep please dont do them yourself. I had someone install my carpet who was a friend and a few weeks ago I slipped because one of the seams wasnt sealed enough,... bad scene
