How to stablize the wooden spindles going up the side of a staircase that are wobbly?

Looking to buy a townhouse with a staircase going up to the second story. The wooden bannister with spiral "spokes" on the side of the staircase is somewhat wobbly. What is the best way to make them not wiggle?
