I keep falling while going up the stairs. i noticed that the stairs were all different sizes.

Is there a code or law that each step should be. i have some shorter and some longer. i keep falling when going up. it appears that some of them are in backwards, however, i need to know if there is a code stating the width or length of stepping area.
