How to get stairs from squeaking?

Answers:

From:

Your stairs should have triangular glue blocks on the underside, at the joint between the tread and the riser.
If you take these off and reglue them with plenty of ordinary pva woodworking adhesive, this will get rid of a lot of the squeaks. Add extra blocks if necessary.
Also, each tread and riser, should be held in place by a wedge. If any of these are loose, take them out , reglue and hammer back in tight.
