Wood Stairs

Wood is a material that creates cozy atmosphere everywhere it is used. There are several options considering types of wood but the softening (making every house cozier) effect remains the same.

Stairs that are made of wood are extremely beautiful. These will add architectural interest to any custom residence or commercial project. These will decorate your house and you don’t need expensive paintings or carpets.

When using wood as a material, it actually does not limit the types of stairs that you can build but it defines the methods that you should use for building them. For example, when building a spiral stair of wood, the wooden treads are mortised, screwed and glued into the center column. The balusters pass through the wooden treads and go up into the beautiful top handrail. The whole construction is glued and bolted together forming a strong single unit that will not squeak or rattle. Afterwards it is suggested to paint or stain it because then the stairs will look beautiful and ageless and will not loose their beautiful appearance.

With different types of wood, you can create different types of styles. The wooden stairs can be modern and antique, classical and even something totally new.

I was just wondering about hardwood stairs, they can probably be slippery, is there any such thing as maybe an invisible grip that people put on them, and if not how big of a hazard can this be?

I need information on how to deconstruct wooden stairs.
the house built in the 1950's in built on cinder blocks and moving it would cost more than the house is worth.
The boards and staircase are SOLID, so we are wanting to salvage the remains and reconstruct on a new site.

We are senior citizens and our stairs are carpeted and do not clean up easily. Are the laminate and wood stairs slippery and hazardous?
